A Columbus Grove, Ohio family has the unusual distinction of sending six boys to the military. Eugene, Edward, Harold, James, Raymond and Richard Halker, sons of Leo and Frances Halker, served their country during the World War II and Korean War periods. Raymond Halker enlisted in the Navy in 1945. He received his training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, then served in the Asiatic Pacific on the USS Neville and the USS Arnold J Isbell, as a fireman second class. He was discharged after the wars end.
